The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre Treatment unit is located in a local high school and provides an intensive and specialized interdisciplinary assessment and treatment services for adolescents 13-18 years of age who have psychiatric and/or serious emotional/behavioural problems that interfere with their ability to attend the regular school system. Exclusionary criteria include adolescents with global intellectual deficits, severe conduct problems involving repetitive aggression, and active alcohol and/or drug dependency problems.
