Students are admitted to the Roberts/Smart-McHugh unit due to severe behavioural and/or emotional crisis. The school program is available to intermediate students, who are experiencing an inability to adaptively manage in their current academic setting. Change is achieved through teaching, coaching and counseling in a caring and supportive milieu, as well as through the development of individualized treatment programs. A plan of care is formulated for each student, considering the psychological, education, social and physical needs of the student.
There are two classrooms in a local elementary school with 16 spaces for students ages 12—14 years.
